Breaking Free From the Stress of Moving

16 September 2009

Purchasing a new home can be exhausting. It is not enough just to research potential communities, find a decent real estate agent, visit prospective homes, and hire an inspector. In addition, there is also shopping the multitude of banks for a low interest rate, reading and signing mountains of paperwork, scheduling work around everyone else’s schedule, and assuming this is not a first time purchase, the old house has to be sold.

Stress

The worst part is that once all of this running around and dealing with stress is finally finished, the reward is the arduous task of packing everything into moving boxes, loading them on a rented truck, driving through traffic and any number of different cities, and finally arriving at the new home. Of course, rather than relax, everything must be rushed off the moving truck so that it can be returned to the rental company on time.

Alternatively, there are costly moving services that one could use to avoid heavy lifting and dangerous driving, but they come at a heavy price (more than just their price tag). Many full-service moving companies hire their employees at minimum wage or take on mindless brutes who would not understand the word fragile if it smacked them in the face, the results of which are usually broken glass, crushed valuables, and some potentially missing silverware.

Dealing with low-quality service becomes just as stressful as doing the whole thing by hand, it just requires a little extra cash to avoid the physical labor aspect. There is a third option that manages to join the best of both worlds, removing many of the extenuating complications. By using a truck rental service, it is possible to safely pack everything into boxes, load them into a ReloCube or ABF trailer, and have the company drive everything to the new house. At first glance, this may only seem to reduce the stress of driving, yet there are additional benefits to using the right company.

There is a certain sense of assurance in knowing that everything is packed in just the right manner and that if anything breaks, it is not due to the negligence of some underpaid employee. Secondly, there is additional security as the trailer is sealed until it reaches its destination, so there is no chance of theft. Yet, the best benefit is that when the trailer arrives at the house, there is no immediate rush to unpack everything, as there is no requirement to get a truck back to its owners for fear of late fees.

Additionally, there is the benefit of cost. By not working with a full-service mover, there is no need to deal with their expensive pricing, while avoiding the truck rental company means not having to deal with expensive insurance plans and damage reimbursement. After purchasing a new home, the stress of moving may be the last thing in the world that anyone would want to deal with, but with the right moving company, it could become tolerable, if not a little enjoyable.
